Users of StudioLine Photo Basic can use the no charge “StudioLine Geotagging” web
service to manually associate images with the location where they were taken. Data is
exchanged between StudioLine Photo Basic and StudioLine Geotagging by means of
KML files, the native file format of Google™ Earth. |
The “Studioline Geotagging”
web service requires Internet
Explorer, Version 7 or better. |
In the Image Archive, select the images to be geotagged. Then, choose “Create KML File
(with Thumbnails)” from the “Geotagging” menu. Choose a target location for the KML
file and click “OK” to proceed. |
Start Internet Explorer and open the site "Geo.StudioLine.net". To load your KML file and
thumbnails, choose the option “Local File”, click the “Browse” button and navigate to the
folder with the exported KML file and select it. |
Clicking the “Add”
button will load the
images referenced in
the KML file and add
them to the thumbnail
pane on the left.
Images that already
have geographical
coordinates will be
marked at their
respective locations
on the map. |
You can use the controls in the upper left corner of the map to scroll or zoom the map
display, or move the map by clicking and dragging the left mouse button. To jump to a
particular location, use the field “Enter a location or address” near the top of the map
and click the “Search” button. |

Annotate Images |
After you have added location data to your images, you’ll need to save an updated KML
file back to your computer. Click the “Export” button and choose a destination folder on
your computer. This could be the same folder as the original KML file that you had
loaded. |
To load the location data and annotations into the StudioLine Image Archive, choose
“Import KML File” from the “Geotagging” menu. Navigate to the folder that contains the
exported KML file from the StudioLine Geotagging web service. Click on the KML file, then
click “OK” to confirm. The location data and annotations will be copied into Image Archive
and StudioLine will open a new window showing the effected images. |
