Dear StudioLine User:

To kick off the new year, we have released three new features in our most recent update.

·     New "Load Assistant",

·     Enhanced "Descriptors" panel,

·     Export supports StudioLine files larger than 2 GB.

In addition, manuals for StudioLine Photo Classic 3 and StudioLine Photo Basic 3 are now available.

Loading Images, Movie and Sound Clips – Easier Than Ever

The convenient Load Assistant saves lots of time and effort. Now you can choose, prior to loading, which images or media files you want to manage in the image archive.

While StudioLine is running, the Load Assistant automatically detects all files in the "DCIM" folder of a storage device (e.g., a memory card and/or digital camera) as soon as it is connected to the computer. Vibrant thumbnails, in perfect quality, allow you to assess the images on the storage device. Icons represent movie and sound clips.

From the thumbnail gallery on the left, you choose the files you would like to import into StudioLine. There are several convenient techniques to make your selection:

·     Initially, all files have checkmarks and thus will be loaded. Uncheck any files you want to skip.

·     To set or remove all checkmarks, click the right mouse button in the thumbnail gallery and choose the appropriate option from the context menu.

·     You may also use the "Ctrl+A" keyboard combination to first select all images. Then, click the checkbox under any image to either globally set or remove all checkmarks.

·     To select a group of images, click and drag the mouse pointer across the desired images. A selector frame is drawn around the selected images.
To add or remove individual images from the selection, hold the "Ctrl" key while clicking on a file. When your selection is complete, click the right mouse button inside your selection and choose "Check Selected" or "Uncheck Selected" from the context menu.

The right pane of the Load Assistant determines the target folder in the image archive. Click the "Browse" button to navigate to a particular image archive folder. You can choose to have StudioLine create a subfolder for the new images, based either on the date and time of loading or on a name you enter.

Another handy option is the ability to automatically assign meaningful image names when loading, potentially saving an extra step later.

Flexible Descriptors Panel

The enhanced Descriptors panel can be adapted to suit your needs. It can be docked on any of the four sides of the StudioLine screen. This way you can work in a narrow panel with a long list of descriptors or in a wide panel that is ideal for editing long descriptions. The "Auto-Hide" option will keep the descriptors out of the way while you are working in other areas of the StudioLine screen. The panel will slide back into view when needed.

You can also undock the Descriptors panel and move it about freely (e.g., to a second monitor).  StudioLine will retain the user interface settings so that you can restart StudioLine and still see your familiar, customized work space.

To open the Descriptors panel, click on any image caption in the image archive view. Alternatively, choose "Descriptors" from the "Edit" menu or use the keyboard combination "Ctrl+D".

Support for Large Export Files

When exporting large amounts of data in the "StudioLine File" format, StudioLine will split the output into multiple 2 GB files, if necessary to overcome Windows limitations. During import, associated 2 GB segments are automatically reassembled.
